Book Promotion by Dr. Laura Kromjak at the IUS Department of Political Science and International Relations
The Department of Political Science and International Relations (PSIR), Faculty of Business and Administration (FBA), in collaboration with the Balkan Studies Center (BSC), organized a book promotion on October 7, 2025, featuring Dr. Laura Kromjak, Assistant Professor in the Department of Global and Development Studies at the Institute of Political and International Studies, ELTE Faculty of Social Sciences in Budapest, Hungary. She presented the volume "Integrational Trauma in Refugee Communities" (Routledge, 2024).
The book brings together research on the experiences of refugee communities and examines how trauma is transmitted across generations. In her presentation, Dr. Kromjak spoke about the process of compiling the volume, the challenges faced by displaced individuals, and the importance of understanding trauma within broader social and cultural contexts.
The event gathered students and academics interested in migration studies and post-conflict recovery. A lively discussion followed, touching on the book’s relevance for current policies and practices related to integration and mental health.
