Book Promotion at IUS: “The False Dichotomy of Bosnia” by Nedžad Ahatović

The International University of Sarajevo (IUS) had the honor of hosting the promotion of the book “Lažna dihotomija Bosne” (The False Dichotomy of Bosnia) by Bosnian defendologist Nedžad Ahatović addressing pressing questions of geopolitics and security in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the wider region.

The event brought together respected speakers, including journalist and activist Semir Sejfović, historian Omer Merzić, IUS Professor of International Relations Jahja Muhasilović, Professor of Geopolitics and Security Studies Ahmed Kico, as well as the author himself.

In his remarks, Dr. Jahja Muhasilović emphasized that the book offers a timely analysis of the challenges Bosnia and Herzegovina faces in the current geopolitical landscape, particularly in relation to narratives of division and external influence. He noted that Ahatović’s work serves as an important alarm for the Bosnian public, urging reflection and action to prevent harmful scenarios for the country’s future.

Through a combination of analysis and commentary, “The False Dichotomy of Bosnia” sheds light on both internal and external dynamics that shape the position of Bosnia and Herzegovina in global politics. As such, it provides valuable insights not only for academics and policymakers but also for all citizens concerned with the preservation of the country’s sovereignty and stability.

By hosting this promotion, IUS once again reaffirmed its role as a platform for critical debate, dialogue, and academic engagement on issues that directly affect Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region.
