IUS Professor Explores Link Between Sustainable Development and Human Security

Dr. Aliaksandr Novikau, Associate Professor in the Political Science and International Relations Program (PSIR) at the IUS Faculty of Business and Administration (FBA), presented his research paper, “Human Security for Sustainable Development: Educating Global Citizens for a Resilient Future,” at the 5th World Symposium on Sustainability Science and Research. The symposium, themed “Sustainability Transition and Global Citizenship in the Digital Era: Innovations in Universities,” was held at Universidade Aberta in Lisbon, Portugal, on May 26–27, 2025.

In his paper, Dr. Novikau highlights the critical connection between human security and sustainable development, emphasizing their shared values. He argues that fostering an understanding of human security is essential for preparing future leaders to address the complex challenges of the Sustainable Development Goals agenda effectively.

The paper will be published as a chapter in a forthcoming book in the famous “World Sustainability Series”.
