IUS PSIR Students Participate in Panel Discussion on International Human Rights Day
Students from the IUS Political Science and International Relations (PSIR) program, part of the Global Affairs and Political Studies Club, attended a panel discussion commemorating International Human Rights Day, titled "Youth and Human Rights: BiH Between Strasbourg and European Future."
The panel featured prominent figures who have presented cases before the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg: Jakob Finci, Azra Zornić, and Dervo Sejdić. These individuals filed lawsuits against Bosnia and Herzegovina, challenging its discriminatory constitution, and their cases remain among the most pivotal rulings against the country.
The students had the opportunity to engage in insightful discussions about the significance of these rulings on the current socio-political landscape in Bosnia and Herzegovina, their implications for the future, and their importance for the next generation of decision-makers.
Furthermore, PSIR student Ajna Mešić organized and moderated the panel discussion in observance of International Human Rights Day.
The discussion covered key issues, including the current state of human rights in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the future prospects for human rights, the role of institutions in fostering change, and the lessons we can draw from the experiences of the panelists.
