IUS Welcomes Delegation from Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice

On Thursday, June 11, 2026, the International University of Sarajevo (IUS) welcomed a delegation of students and professors from Pavol Jozef Šafárik University (UPJŠ) in Košice, Slovakia, as part of their study visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina and Sarajevo.

The guests were welcomed by Assist. Prof. Dr. Hamza Preljević, Coordinator of the Political Science and International Relations (PSIR) study program, and Mr. Mugdim Alihodžić, Manager of the IUS International Relations Office (IRO).

The visit represented another important step in strengthening academic ties between the two institutions. The PSIR study program already maintains an active Erasmus+ agreement with UPJŠ, which has been successfully supporting staff and student mobility. In addition, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between UPJŠ and IUS had previously been signed, further opening opportunities for academic cooperation, exchange, and joint initiatives.

During the visit, representatives of UPJŠ formally presented the signed copies of the agreement to IUS. On behalf of the University, the documents were received by Mr. Mugdim Alihodžić.

The program included a presentation on IUS, introducing the guests to the University’s academic structure, international orientation, and study opportunities. Following the presentation, the visiting students and professors toured the IUS campus and had the opportunity to learn more about student life, academic facilities, and the multicultural environment that defines the University.

The visit also provided space for productive discussions on future cooperation, with a focus on expanding academic exchange, strengthening research collaboration, and developing new forms of international engagement between IUS and UPJŠ.
